Three simple words. And yet as I look back on the previous year and a half those three simple words become so much more. I’m humbled and amazed as I see what’s been accomplished simply by letting selfless, giving people help meet the needs of our kiddos. Each and every month, you sacrificed time and money and invested in the stories and lives of individuals who needed your help, and without fail you always came through – thank you! We asked you to “Go Shout Love” and you did.
To those of you who trusted us enough to share your story and feature your family to help raise awareness and bring to light the difficulty with which you walk each day, words cannot say what ought to be said. You allowed us to weep with you and mourn with you and share in the victories as well as the defeats. You brought inspiration to those of us who take for granted the days we have with those we love. You’ll forever be in our hearts.
I write all these things with a very heavy heart. As of today Go Shout Love will cease operation for the foreseeable future. Let me explain why. The cold hard truth is that we simply couldn’t devise a business model that allowed us to give generously and not absorb losses at year end. “Well why don’t you become a non-profit” you might say. Good question! Our mission and our heartbeat has always been to bring a community of support around an individual family with hopes of overwhelming them with financial and emotional support being poured out by you, our incredible followers. That involves directing funds to the individual family and this currently isn’t an activity that has any taxable relief for the organization. If we became a non-profit we’d lose this personal and truly rewarding touch and we would not be able to be the “Go Shout Love” that you know and support today, we didn’t want that. And currently our organization is as lean as it could possibly be. There’s simply no way to cut operational costs, make a profit that would support our efforts, and give in the manner that we have.
Will Go Shout Love ever come back? I hope so and that is certainly our goal! But we do have to take a long hard look at how we’d achieve our mission and allow the business to also support our hard working Go Shout Love team. We plan to take the next few months to reflect on the past year and a half, to focus on restructuring our business model, and to devise a plan to be able to come back even stronger and even more ready to shout love for amazing families.
Go. Shout. Love. That’s my encouragement to each of you. GO find the hurting in your community and take the extra step to make a difference in their life. SHOUT to any and all who will listen to their stories, be their voice! LOVE relentlessly, without it all our efforts are in vain. Love is the greatest of things and truly conquers all that stands in its way. GO SHOUT LOVE is not a website or a business, but a movement of people who care about people. I pray that we can continue this in the future, but if not I ask that you continue to Go Shout Love always and every day.
